BU Foundation: Two BU Foundation/promotional dinners were recently held in the WPBA, one at South Riding Baptist and the other at Rocklands Baptist. A total of 130 folk, representing pastors/leaders/partners from 24 churches, attended. A great ethos prevailed at both dinners and 12 new partners signed up. Special prayer sessions were held for the BU financial situation. During 2016, the Foundation raised an amount of R262 922 towards the ministries of the Baptist Union. All praise to God!
BMD: the Missions Developer led a Missions Weekend at Cambridge Baptist, East London from 7-9 April. The weekend included a special youth meeting; a missions breakfast; a joint cultural evening with Beacon Baptist, which focused on A J Meiring (Central, Pretoria), who is going as a missionary to Japan; global focus training; and both Sunday services which focused on Missions to the World. The meetings were very well attended and, in spite of the absence of the Pastor Barry Wyatt of Cam-bridge who was suddenly called home, the attendance at all meetings was excellent and an enthusiastic ethos prevailed.
Easter meetings: The BU President ministered at the KZNBF Easter Con-vention, which was held in Esikhawini Baptist. Over 4 000 folk repre-senting 47 churches were in attendance. The GS ministered at the Con-vention of the Transkei churches, which was held at the Majola Tea Es-tates in Port St Johns. Over 400 people representing ten churches were in attendance. The theme was ‘The Cross of Christ as the Foundation for church growth.’ Naomi met with the pastors’ wives at the event.
Local Church News
Port Alfred Baptist (EPBA) baptised 13 candidates during February. The Riverside Community Church (BNA) has purchased land right next door to the school, where they are currently meeting. Hozanna Baptist, Humansdorp (BNA) recently baptised eight candidates and had a dedication service for six children. Pastor Norman Schaeffer (Kimberley Baptist) baptised 19 candidates in the Vaal River over the Easter weekend. Nine were from Africa for Jesus, six from Phutanang Baptist and four from Stilwater Baptist.
The Free State Baptist Association held their AGM in Kroonstad on dur-ing February, with 39 delegates from 15 churches in attendance.
The Western Province Baptist Association held their Council meeting during February at Westridge Baptist, with 48 delegates from 29 church-es in attendance. Amongst others, the meeting focused on pastoral sup-port and care ‘Together in Ministry’ (TIM) groups.
The Eastern Province Baptist Association held its Appreciation service on 26 March at Cornerstone where a number of pastors and evangelists (lay and full time) were honoured for their faithful ministry over the years in the Association. The EPBA Executive was also re-elected with Rev Randy Smith as Vice president and the Rev Jonathan Galant being inducted as the President.

Ill: Jonathan Holdt (Bethany, Pretoria) will need to go for further scans on 2 May; Dorothy Dick (BU Foundation) has been diagnosed with cancer; Millicent Noble (pastoral widow) is recovering after a stint in hospital.
