Day 1
On the first day of the following months pray for:
January: Pray that our Assembly theme “We exist … to know the Lord Jesus and to make Him known” (Discipleship) will be evident in our national, regional and local church witness and activities.
February: The Students arriving at the Theological Colleges for the new academic year. The “Local Church Alive” Week of Prayer. The Missions, DOLM and Finance Board meetings. The AABF Exco meetings in Arusha, Tanzania.
March: The BU Executive Task Team, BU Executive Meetings and Ministry Board interviews in Cape Town. Pulpit Exchange in Zimbabwe. The National BYSA Ministries Conference and BYSA Executive Meetings at Baptist House.
April: The Easter Missions Offering, that God will move the hearts of the churches/people to give to Missions.
May: The “Local Church Alive” Ascension Day Prayer Focus. The Finance Committee and DOLM Board meetings at Baptist House. The SABWD Board Meeting and National Seminar (Skogheim, Port Shepstone). BU Scripture Exam.
June: The BU Executive/Task Team meetings and Ministry Board interviews in Johannesburg. The BMD Trans Africa Training Teams ministry in Zambia. DOLM Promotion Day. Short-term mission trips from our churches. The BYSA Impact SA (Week 1). Youth Day services.
July: BYSA Impact SA (Week 2). The Baptist World Alliance General Council Meetings in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
August: The “Local Church Alive” Week of Prayer. Baptist Union Sunday (28 August). Women’s Day rallies. The Finance Committee, DOLM Board, Missions Board and BYSA Executive meetings at Baptist House.
September: The BU Executive meetings in Port Elizabeth. SABWD Board Meetings and National Week of Prayer. SABWD Centenary Celebrations.
October: The Annual Assembly in Port Elizabeth and the incoming Presidents, Stuart Cranna (BU) and Janet Galant (SABWD).
November: The College Graduation Services at Cape Town, Randburg and Polokwane. The Baptist Women’s World Day of Prayer.
December: World AIDS Day (1 December) and BYSA Youth Summer Camps (10-17 December).
Day 2 Pray for the President, Edson Magoloi, his wife Sarah and family as he travels, visiting churches and missions of the Baptist Union, preaching, encouraging and challenging us on the theme “We exist … to know the Lord Jesus and to make Him known” (Discipleship).
Day 3 Pray for the General Secretary, Angelo Scheepers (Naomi), as he preaches, motivates, leads and shares the “LocalChurch Alive” Thrust of the Baptist Union. Pray for the Financial Administration staff: Albert Elliott (Margie), Geni Gopper (Johann); the staff at Baptist House: Althea Cornelius, Violet Luface (Johann), Esther Sebopa; the Training Centre Maintenance Staff: Godfrey Hood (Veronica); David Khumalo (Joyce); and Isaac Ngema (Priscilla); the Training Centre Hospitality Staff: Dawn Harris and Cynthia Moyo.
Day 4 Pray for the Missions Developer, Nelson Abraham (Gail) as he leads the Missions thrust of the Union. Pray for George Ngamlana (Peggy) as the Resource and Relations Officer. Pray for Natalie Hood in her role as Missions Department Office Secretary.
Day 5 Pray for the Border Baptist Association and the Co-ordinating Committee led by the President Thembile Dunge (Nomatheko). Pray for the Association Officers, Executive Office Secretary Thembela Nazo. Pray for the Church Planters in Dutywa and Aliwal North.
Day 6 Pray for the Council, Lecturing, Administrative/Office Staff and Students of the Baptist Theological College, Randburg; the Principal, Martin Pohlmann (Wendy); Lecturers – Gregory Pereira (Vercia); Sam Ndoga (Tariro); Kurt Holiday (Janna-Kay) and Registrar Willem Bronkhorst (Susan).
Day 7 Pray for Tony Christian, the BYSA Youth Developer, Mohau Radebe, the BYSA Co-ordinator for Associational/local church Youth Ministry and BU Scripture Exam Convenor. Pray for BYSA finances.
Day 8 Pray for the Missions Outreach into Africa. Pray for Keith and Christeen Moller as they reach the Yao people of Malawi. Pray for Lima and Maria Zamba, the missionaries in Angola. Pray for the continuation of our Baptist witness in Mauritius and Zambia. Pray for the future of our North African missionaries and for the plans of Sylvester Tshabalala for Malawi.
Day 9 Pray for the ministry of Bible Way, for Les Roos (Gerrit) and the team at Baptist House; for the volunteers involved at the satellite centres. Pray for the students, many of whom are prisoners. Pray for the ministry of the Bible Society and our Baptist Representative, Clive van Rooyen (Lyn).
Day 10 Pray for the work and ministry of the Free State Baptist Association and the Chairman Eric Komako (Mamohau), the Executive and Officers. Pray for the Church Planters in Kroonstad, Odendaalsrus, Wesselsbron, Virginia, Bloemfontein (Pieter Swartz, Khotsong, Grassland), Vrede and QwaQwa.
Day 11 Pray for the Confidential Consultant, Peter Holness (Anne) as he seeks to give counsel to churches, pastors and individuals. Pray for pastors and missionaries who are facing particular trials and difficulties, and for the Elders, Deacons and Leaders of our churches. Pray for the Ministry Board Co-ordinator, Rick Inglis (Jean) as he administers the Pastoral Care Department of the BUSA; for Trevor Swart as he ministers to our retired pastors/pastoral widowers and widows; for Brian Jardine (Sonja) as he spearheads the Pastoral Care Ministry in the Associations.
Day 12 Pray for Credo Mangayi (Esperanza) and Deeds of Love Ministry as they assist our churches to become involved in practical ministries, including HIV & AIDS and disaster relief.
Day 13 Pray for the spreading of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ in our land by our churches, and for Pastors to preach the Gospel. Pray for all our Evangelists and the “Local Church Alive” thrust. Pray for Errol Wesson (Claudia), Harold Peasley (Antoinette), Raymond September (Grezelda) and the Evangelism Committee working under the Missions Department as they assist our churches and develop evangelistic outreaches.
Day 14 Pray for the Afrikaanse Baptiste Kerk, the President Willem Nel (Tanya); the Executive and member churches. Pray for the Principal of the Seminarium, Martin Holdt (Elsabe); the Administrative and Lecturing staff and the Students. Pray for the work of the Historical Society, Chairman Kevin Roy (Ina) and our BU Archivist, Jenni Mackenzie (Bruce).
Day 15 Pray for the Cape Town Baptist Seminary Board, Lecturing and Administrative Staff and Students of the CTBS, the Principal Linzay Rinquest (Colleen); Lecturers - Gordon Miller (Annette); Godfrey Harold (Patricia); Ronnie Davis (Gail); Anselmo Vilanculo (Charlene); Annelien Rabie; and the office staff.
Day 16 Pray for the work of the Eastern Province Baptist Association, the Executive and Officers. Pray for the Office Secretary Jenny du Plooy (Ernie), and for the Church Planters in Motherwell, Humansdorp and Port Alfred.
Day 17 Pray for the Baptist Women’s Department: the President, Rina Solomon (Adrian) as she leads, encourages and promotes her theme “We exist … to know Him”; the Director, Patricia Ihlenfeldt (Reuben); Naomi Scheepers and the ministry to Pastors’ Wives; Pearl Grunewald (Eldred) as she trains leaders; Tere Basson (John) and May Shenton as they develop the “Hidden Treasure” ministry; Heather Sullivan (Andy) and the ministry to widows/pastoral families. Pray for their other ministries: Missions: Bridget Jongbloed (Charles). Project Dorcas: Patricia and Gloria Mketsu (Bathwell).
Day 18 Pray for Church Planting in the BUSA and for the training of Church Planters facilitated by Terry Rae (Veronica) and Shadrack Monageng (Anna) of Africa for Christ.
Day 19 Pray for the moving of God’s Spirit upon our churches, that renewal and revival will be experienced in the hearts and lives of individual Christians, leaders and pastors. Pray for Frank Pretorius (Joy) and Graham Wood (Janice) as they spearhead Church Renewal Weekends/Unity Seminars as part of “Local Church Alive”.
Day 20 Pray for the worldwide Baptist family; for the All Africa Baptist Fellowship and interim General Secretary, Dr Harrison Olang; the outreach of Conventions and Unions throughout Africa. Pray for the Baptist World Alliance President John Upton, the General Secretary Neville Callam, and the staff of the BWA.
Day 21 Pray for the Baptist Association of the Northern Cape, for the Chairman Sam Kepe (Lucy), the Secretary Kenneth Segoai (Tshupetso) and the Executive. Pray for the Church planter in Buxton; for Petrus and Mariana Vorster, the Missionaries/Church Developers in Upington.
Day 22 Pray for the BU Finance Committee, for the Chairman Mike Melnick (Rose) and for the Members as they guide the financial affairs of the Union in these challenging days. Pray that our churches will take seriously their giving to the corporate ministries of the BUSA.
Day 23 Pray for the work of the Western Province Baptist Association, for the Executive and Officers; the Area Co-ordinator Clive Jacobs (Ursula); the Church Planters in Barcelona, Lower Crossroads, Wallacedene, Mossel Bay, Samora Machel, Lukhuko, Harare, Kraaifontein, Ceres, Saldanha Bay, Brentwood Park and Lotus River.
Day 24 Pray for the impact of Baptists Today as it continues to inform and inspire Baptists in our churches. Pray for the Editor Nigel D’Aubrey (Janis) and the Committee that they may know the Lord’s guidance and pray for support by the local churches.
Day 25 Pray for the BU Chaplains: (a) Security Services: Thomas Magodi (Cathy); Elvis Notshe (Eleanor); Frank Meulenbeld (Sharon); (b) Correctional Services: Jonathan and Jenny Clayton; (c) SA Police Services: Lawrence Mogoera (Junia), Michael Leripa (Patricia), (d) Emergency Services: John Grubb (Alet); Claude Kidwell (Helen), Ken Walburgh (Amy).
Day 26 Pray for the work of the Baptist Northern Association, the Secretary, the Executive Committee and the need for a Co-ordinator. Pray for Church Planters in Thabazimbi, Hammanskraal, Northam, Tigane, Marulaneng, Seshego, Venda, and the ministry of Samaria Mission. Pray for the Shepherds in the Regions.
Day 27 Pray for our State President, Jacob Zuma, and the leaders of our land as they seek to find solutions to HIV/AIDS, poverty, crime, violence and immorality in South Africa. Pray for the Christian Citizenship Committee, as they lead us during these challenging days and for the Chairman Joop de Wit (Daleen).
Day 28 Pray for the work of the KZN Baptist Association, the Office Secretary, Di Groenewald (James), and the Executive and Officers. Pray for the Executive Steering Committee, the Administrator; the Church/Missions Developers Richard Seku (Nosipho) and Trevor Eayrs (Marilyn). Pray for the Church Planters in Pietermaritzburg, QuarryHeights, Ulundi, Central Natal. Pray for the new Inner-City missionary, Rev Paul Richardson (Durban).
Day 29 Pray for the work of the International Missions Board serving in the Associations of the Baptist Union, for Don Lynch (Pam) leading the South West Cluster, for Wade Coker (DeeAnn) leading the South East Cluster and for our joint church planting thrust in Upington and Namaqualand.
Day 30 Pray for the South African Baptist Alliance, for a united Baptist witness in our country. Pray for the Convention and their General Secretary; for the Baptist Mission (KZN); and the Baptist Association (KZN). Pray for the preparations for the 2015 Baptist World Alliance Congress in Durban.
Day 31 When the month has 31 days, pray for the Students at our Colleges, for their physical and spiritual needs to be met as they prepare for Christian Service. Pray too that God would raise up more labourers for His harvest field for the years to come.
